This Is Me: Loving the Person You Are Today

An inspirational book about life and its lessons from the Golden Globe and Emmy nominated star of NBCs This Is Us.When This Is Us debuted in fall 2016, a divided America embraced a show that celebrates human connection. The critically acclaimed series became Americas most watchedand most talked aboutnetwork show, even building on its fan base in the dramas second season. As Kate Pearson, Chrissy Metz presents a character that has never been seen on television, yet viewers see themselves in her, no matter what they look like or where they come from. Considered a role model just for being her authentic self, Chrissy found herself on magazine covers and talk shows, walking red carpets, and as the subject of endless conversations on social media I dont know what youve been through to play her, she is often told by fans, but it was something. In This is Me, Chrissy Metz shares her story with a raw honesty that will leave readers both surprised but also inspired. Infused with the same authenticity she brings to her starring role, Chrissys This is Me is so much more than your standard Hollywood memoir or collection of personal essays. She embraces the spirit of Shonda Rhimes Year of Yes, and shares how she has applied the lessons she learned from both setbacks and successes. A born entertainer, Chrissy finds light in even her darkest moments, and leaves the reader feeling they are spending time with a friend who gets it.Chrissy Metz grew up in a large family, one that always seemed to be moving, and growing. Her father disappeared one day, leaving her mother to work a series of menial jobs and his children to learn to live with the threat of hunger and the electricity being cut off. When her mother remarried, Chrissy hoped for normal but instead experienced a form of mental pain that seemed crafted just for her. The boys who showed her attention did so with strings attached as well, and Chrissy accepted it, because for her, love always came with conditions. When she set out for Los Angeles, it was the first time she had been away from her family and from Florida. And for years, she got barely an audition. So how does a woman with the deck stacked against her radiate such love, beauty and joy? This too is at the heart of This is Me. With chapters that alternate from autobiographical to instructional, Chrissy offers practical applications of her hard-won insights in a series of Bee Mindful interstitials. There she invites you to embrace gratitude in Say Thank You or to be honest with your partner and yourself in The Shrouded Supreme. Blending love and experience, Chrissy encourages us all to claim our rightful place in a world that may be trying to knock us down, find our own unique gifts, and pursue our dreams....

  • Naeemah Huggins

She had a really rough childhood... Geez. She came out on top though, she's resilient and I enjoy her confidence. Interesting peek into the Hollywood world, auditioning and being an agent. Satisfying read.

Chrissy Metz is an amazing person and her personality really shines with the way she reads her novel. I loved how funny she was. She also talks about real issues and positive thinking to overcome those. She makes great points that inspire!

I can’t even tell you how much I LOVED this very honest and inspiring book! Chrissy is Kate, Chrissy is me!! I related so much. Her scrapping and scraping to get where she is today yet not fully believing that she really deserves it! But she does, and I do too! We are all on a journey of self love! She put it all into words beautifully! πŸ’• Chrissy Metz! I hope to be able to tell you in person how much your book means to me! Thank you for sharing your story!

I knew that Chrissy had 81 cents in her bank account when she landed the role of Kate, but I knew nothing about her back story. And what a doozy it was! I hate to use the cliche "Rags to Riches" line, because she busted her butt to get where she is today. Hers is a story of perseverance and hope, and I am so glad she shared it.

It's hard sometimes for people writing autobiographies to not get preachy -- everyone does it, because I think it's our instinct to try to make sense of our lives. And so

I liked Kate on This Is Us, but I like Chrissy Metz even more. Hearing her story, you can't help but appreciate her and what she's gone through. Great book!

I read and listened to this one on audio read by Chrissy herself. First, I love her as Kate on This Is Us, and that she was so brave to tell her story. I'm glad I read the book and passed it on to others at work.

I really had trouble with the change of voice throughout the book. It was really obvious on audio when Chrissy was retelling a personal event versus reading what was completed by a co-author/ ghost writer. Her speech was steady, she had appropriate pauses during her memories, and her la

I love Chrissy Metz! Of course, we know who she is from "This is Us" (such a good show!)

I listened to Chrissy read the audiobook version which is my favorite way to read this type of book. I also started and finished this book in less than 24 hours.

Listening to her story and learning more about who she is really just made me wish we could be friends IRL, lol. I love her confidence and her desire to see other people know their worth as well.
